FCB resume training after brief Easter break

After a three-day break the FC Bayern squad resumed training on Easter Monday. The group supervised by Pep Guardiola in spring-like conditions comprised nine outfield players and three goalkeepers. The absentees included Arjen Robben (groin) and Joshua Kimmich (sprain), plus long-term injury victims Jérôme Boateng and Holger Badstuber. The club’s current internationals are also still away from Munich - with the exception of Thiago, who sat out Spain’s friendly away to Romania on Sunday and was already back at the Säbener Strasse in time for the afternoon workout. Following the customary warm-up the players completed passing and sprinting drills and a handful of match situation exercises. The session lasted some 80 minutes. The next workout is on Tuesday, with Wednesday designated a day off. On Thursday, most of the internationals will be back and the squad will begin preparing in earnest for Saturday’s home Bundesliga meeting with Eintracht Frankfurt.

Neuer out of Italy clash

The weekend fixture will hopefully feature Manuel Neuer, who left the Germany team base on Monday with a stomach upset and now misses the world champions’ friendly meeting with Italy at the Allianz Arena on Tuesday evening.
